Strategy

Training Pathway and Course Information

Hull Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board has adopted the following Training Strategy which aims to provide a variety of learning options, developing Safeguarding Adults awareness and training for all staff and managers within the Hull boundary, and promoting a consistent training 'model of excellence'.

Training Strategy

The strategy has been revised with effect from July 2010 to reflect the needs of staff and the current economic climate which restricts the release of staff for training. Changes may be made in the near future when there may be an adoption of national training standards following a consultation by the University of Bournemouth.

Training Pathway

The following sessions are currently provided:

E-learning:

Free of charge internet based programme accessible by password (available upon request). Can be used individually or in a group. Each user will receive a score and certificate.

Briefing Session:

Offers a brief overview of 'who, why, where and how abuse occurs'. 'Face to face' delivery with the opportunity for questions and answers. A certificate of attendance is issued. An alternative to E-Learning.

Basic Awareness:

Half day session for practitioners, care providers and volunteers with no managerial responsibility.

Aims to raise awareness of role and responsibility within the Multi-agency Safeguarding Adults Policy, Procedures and Practice Guidelines (for Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire). Learning outcomes will include understanding the definition of abuse; identifying types and potential indicators of abuse; know what to do if you suspect abuse.

Managers Awareness:

These sessions will be discontinued from October 2011. A new Practitioner Training will be introduced from 2012 - more details will be published as soon as possible.
